Environ Essential Youth Reset

The Environ Essential Youth Reset is an advanced medical facial that is designed to rejuvenate ageing skin using products from skincare company Environ. Skincare company Environ created this facial using their range of anti-ageing skincare products. This includes an advanced peptide serum (which can promote the production of collagen and elastin), a vitamin A-, C- and E-rich gel (which nourishes, calms and soothes the skin) and a conductive face mask. The mask has nutrients in it, but its main purpose is to conduct an electrical current over the surface of the skin to encourage the other products deeper into the skin’s layers.

Microneedling is a popular and valuable tweakment in its own right. In the video above, you’ll see that it’s used to make lots of tiny holes in the upper layer of the skin, through which the skincare products can travel and sink down into the dermis. The uppermost layer of the skin is made of dead skin cells, so having little channels for the active ingredients to go through is a great way to maximise their benefit.

Ultrasound is used in medicine to get active ingredients through the skin’s outermost layer. This technique is called sonophoresis. By vibrating at a high frequency, the ultrasound machine sends waves of sonic energy into the skin. These waves disrupt the uppermost layer of the skin (the stratum corneum) and allow the active ingredients sitting on the surface to come through too. Don’t worry, your skin soon returns to normal, so it doesn’t leave you open to the elements.

This is another medical technique for enhancing the delivery of active ingredients called iontophoresis. How it works is that the active ingredients are ionic, i.e. they carry an electric charge—in this case, a positive charge. These are applied to the skin and start to work their way in like any other skincare would. In this treatment, a face mask is then applied, through which a low-level electrical current carrying a positive charge is run. The positive charge in the mask repels the positive charge of the active ingredients, pushing them away from the mask and in the only direction they can go: deep, deep into the skin.

Absolutely! In fact, it’s really rather pleasant. The only slightly strange sensation throughout the experience was a mild tingling during the ultrasound portion of the treatment. But that wasn’t at all painful and, in fact, became quite nice once I was used to it. Funnily enough, I didn’t feel a thing during the conductive mask portion; just a sense of cocooned relaxation.
