Hi Alice, do you think Altrient C is preferable to Rejuvenate collagen for post menopausal hair loss? I have used both as recommended in your book , thanks.

Hi, the quick answer is: I just don’t know. Altrient C is a great supplement and benefits our health in many ways, but when I was talking with Prof Greg Williams, a hair restoration expert and transplant surgeon about this (you can catch our conversation on YouTube here), he pointed out that no supplements have been proven to have any reliable effect on hair loss, even the ones that many hairdressers swear by. There are so many factors involved including stress, diet, whether our immune systems have taken a clobbering from Covid, etc, and once we are into or through the menopause, the loss of oestrogen really affects hair.

Trichologists who are hair specialists tend to recommend eating plenty of protein, along with a diet packed with nutrients and colourful vegetables to get a good range of antioxidants (the lovely lot at Philip Kingsley recommend this, alongside specific haircare protocols). When our body is handing out nutrients, our vital organs get served first, so to get the benefits of those nutrients to your skin and hair you need to concentrate of making sure everything you eat is of nutritional value. And then keep at it. It takes a long time for results to show up in the hair. If you are up for hormone supplementation, that can make a big difference, too.
