What is it? French skincare range based on the unique anti-ageing benefits of West Indian bananas (yes, I’m absolutely serious. And anyway, we have skincare based on everything else, from grapeseed extract to papaya, so why shouldn’t bananas get a look-in?).
What’s the USP? There are anti-oxidant and anti-ageing benefits to the extracts of both green and yellow bananas, and these are what the range is built on. The key ingredient complex is called Muscatif and has been clinically proven to boost collagen levels in the skin and to increase skin’s thickness.
Hero product? Probably the Precious Nutritive Oil (39 euros, www.kadalys.com/en), which last year won a prestigious Victoire de Beaute award.
Why the name? Because in Sanskrit (bear with me), ‘Kadali’ is the name for the banana tree, which in Hindu tradition is an embodiment of Lakshmi, the goddess of beauty.
How new is it? Launched in France in September 2012 and has already won a couple of awards. It has been showing itself around over here in the past few weeks and is currently seeking UK distribution, but for now you can buy it on the website.
