Could Longevity Skincare Really Stop Your Skin From Ageing In The First Place?

17th February 2026
Updated: 23rd February 2026

From intermittent fasting for your skin to cellular repair inspired by cancer treatments, skincare innovation is seriously exciting right now – and that’s all due to a new trending category. Forget anti-ageing. 2026 is the era of longevity skincare. And considering skincare should always form the first step in your broader tweakments routine (aka our trusty tweakments ladder), it’s definitely worth investigating.

Here’s what you need to know…

What is longevity skincare?

Just like the broader longevity lifestyle trend – which is all about living better for longer – longevity skincare aims to keep your skin healthy and resilient at a cellular level for as long as possible. That means, instead of waiting for wrinkles or sagging to appear on the surface, as with the traditional anti-ageing approach, these longevity products have a preventative focus.

The goal? To keep your skin acting ‘as young’ as possible, by supporting skin’s natural processes, reducing cellular stress, and delaying the signs of ageing before they show up. It’s proactive and very much about playing the long game with your skin. It’s also specifically designed for anyone who wants their skin to not just look younger, but actually function better. And that should be all of us whatever our age…

Why is longevity skincare trending?

There are two main reasons.

Firstly, the concept of longevity is no longer confined to spas or gyms – it’s infiltrating every aspect of daily life, and that was bound to influence our skincare routines eventually. As people aim to build forward-thinking ‘longevity routines’, it makes sense to also find skincare solutions that support the skin over time, rather than playing a game of ‘whack a mole’, by only tackling problems as they arise.

Then, there’s the ingredient innovations. Peptides that mimic Botox-like effects are getting better and better, and there’s been tons of exciting research into epigenetic complexes to support cellular repair, and signalling molecules to manage stress-induced ageing (more on that later). It’s skincare meets biohacking, which gives us a proactive way to manage skin health before visible ageing takes hold. And, all that exciting science is finally moving from the labs to our bathroom shelves…

The result? A whole host of longevity skincare solutions, including these four products that have caught the eyes of the TTG team:

1. Paula’s Choice CellularYouth Longevity Serum, £65

Paula's Choice longevity serum

What I love most about Paula’s Choice as a skincare brand is that you can always trust the science behind the products, without ever feeling totally bamboozled. Case in point: this antioxidant-packed serum. Powered by over five years of clinically-proven research, the formula targets 12 signs of skin ageing, including fine lines and discolouration – but most importantly – it does so before they appear.

The secret: a combination of peptides (to improve skin elasticity), hydrators, and cell-protecting ingredients, including sunflower sprout extract, which is designed to support NAD+ (the cellular enzyme that gives your skin cells the energy they need to repair themselves). Best of all, it is lightweight and easy to layer, meaning it’s perfect for anyone who wants to be low-maintenance with their skincare routine, while still getting great benefits. Those results include smoother and firmer skin for longer, as well as your complexion looking fresh and more even in tone.

2. Sensilis Upgrade [AR] Firming Soothing Sorbet Cream, £58

sensilis longevity serum

While no skincare can offer the exact same muscle-relaxing effect as toxin, of course, research is growing into how certain peptides can have a ‘Botox-like’ effect, and this serum is rumoured to help prolong the effect of toxin injections by up to one month. That’s pretty exciting for anyone looking to stretch the time between their appointments!

What really sets this serum apart is its anti-senescence action, which basically means it targets stressed and damaged skin cells that otherwise sit around and cause inflammation. And, inflammation happens to be a massive cause of accelerated skin ageing. By keeping your skin cells healthier, the nourishing cream helps slow down the appearance of wrinkles and dullness, reducing the rate at which pesky expression lines – which we often turn to toxins to deal with – crop up. In even better news, it also works brilliantly to help bring down and avoid irritation, including when used both before and after sensitising treatments such as chemical peels, non-ablative lasers and microneedling, which can help maximise your results.

3. Skindiligent Epigenetics CEL Retinal Serum, £74

Skindiligent longevity serum

Alongside delivering the classic gold-standard benefits of retinoids – such as softening fine lines  – this potent serum uses the brand’s CEL (Cell Epigenetic Longevity) complex to support cellular autophagy – essentially the skin’s natural recycling process, where damaged cells are repaired or removed. This process is more commonly associated with periods of fasting, which is why the serum has been dubbed an ‘intermittent fast for your skin’!

How it works is a little sciencey, but basically, ageing skin gradually loses its ability to respond to damage, which leads to the accumulation of dysfunctional or ‘senescent’ cells that trigger inflammation and accelerate ageing. (Actives like retinoids also cause inflammation if you aren’t careful, which compounds the problem). This serum aims to get to the root of that problem by stimulating your skin’s repair pathways and helping trigger the removal of damaged cells so they can’t continue to spread cellular stress. It does so by taking inspiration from cancer treatments and intermittently inhibiting proteins known as histone deacetylases (HDACs), helping the ‘repair’ genes in your cells remain more active. This optimises long-term skin function and can make your skin more ready to respond to other cell-signalling ingredients too.

4. XOMD Intoxicate Serum, £206

XO longevity serum

Have you heard of the ‘look of love’ – that glow of happiness that people get in the first stages of romance? XOMD – developed by dermatologist Dr Sabrina Fabi and plastic surgeon Dr Steven Dayan – aims to bottle that effect by stimulating the brain-skin connection when you apply the products. And, it’s all supported by a double-blinded, placebo-controlled, randomised trial (aka the best in the business).

Dubbed the first ‘moodceutical’ skincare line, the products are inspired by the science of oxytocin – the so-called ‘love hormone’ – which is found both in your brain and in the top layers of your skin. High levels of the hormone are associated with a youthful-looking complexion, so the products are packed with ingredients such as jasmine extract and carob extract (alongside skin-boosting peptides) to help ‘turn on’ touch sensors to release an oxytocin-inspired effect. By helping support the nerve and hormone pathways that influence skin health, the range of products (our favourite being the serum) therefore helps your skin maintain a balanced, youthful state even under stress, and it’s a gentle, nourishing way to give your skin the tools to stay healthy and resist stress-related ageing over time.
