Shirley Ballas Shares The Results Of Her Second NeoGen ‘Non-Surgical Face Lift’

24th September 2024
Updated: 4th July 2025

Shirley Ballas nearly ‘broke the internet’ early last year, when she revealed her incredible ‘non-surgical face lift’ results – attributing her fresher skin and much tauter jawline to a course of NeoGen Plasma. In fact, the 64-year-old loved the results so much she’s embarked on a second round of treatments with Dr Johanna Ward on Wimpole Street, London. And, she’s shared her experience once again, including her impressive before-and-after photos, which you can see below.

Here’s why the dancer wanted to continue with a second course of NeoGen Plasma, and why she’s such an advocate for maintaining her appearance as she ages through low-intensity plasma treatments. You can see the results for yourself…

Firstly, what is NeoGen Plasma?

NeoGen uses ultra-high radiofrequency to convert nitrogen gas into nitrogen plasma. The NeoGen handpiece then directs this thermal plasma into the layers of the skin, creating controlled trauma, which boosts your skin’s natural regenerative mechanisms – without the need for surgery.

“Collagen levels start to decline in your late 20s and early 30s, and they drop significantly after 40 and especially during menopause. This means our skin loses its elasticity and forms lines, wrinkles and jowls,” explains Dr Johanna Ward. “The NeoGen treatment effectively tricks your skin into boosting levels of collagen and elastin – to stop our skin from sagging and to give us that plump, youthful look.”

What did Shirley Ballas have done?

After loving her initial NeoGen Plasma results, the dancer has had a further series of six monthly treatments with Dr Ward to ‘top up’ the results of her initial transformation.

Ballas once again opted for the low-energy treatment setting (in comparison to Alice’s one big hit approach). This is designed to make the experience more pain-free and to minimise downtime: Ballas gave it a 2 or 3 on the pain scale after numbing cream.

“Some clients choose to have higher energy and they generally get their skin rejuvenation results quicker, but there is greater down-time post treatment, sometimes up to 10 days,” reveals Dr Ward. “Shirley’s busy work life meant that was not an option for her, so she continued to choose the “slow and low” option. With low energy you will generally start to see a noticeable difference after a couple of treatments, and major changes after three or four.”

The before-and-afters

And here they are – Shirley Ballas’ second lot of before-and-after photographs.

You can see that her skin is lifted, her jawline and cheekbones are raised, some loose skin around her neck is tightened, and skin marks such as redness, spider veins and sunspots have been significantly reduced.

It’s fair to say that Ballas was pleased: “I would say the biggest improvement for me is the tightening on the jawline and the reduction of the loose skin on the neck and jowls,” reveals Ballas. “But also the general skin quality is improved and the NeoGen treatments have got rid of all of the sunspots, red marks and spider veins that I had on my cheeks and nose. It’s just remarkable to see the difference in such a short space of time.”

Why did Shirley Ballas embark on a second round of treatments?

It’s great to see Ballas sharing her continued results with NeoGen, emphasising that while her transformation looked great early last year, it does – like most non-surgical treatments – still need some maintenance to retain. (She also revealed that she will now continue to embark on quarterly maintenance sessions to maximise her results).

That’s something to bear in mind when costing up your own tweakment journey and specific device options.
