…appreciating intraceuticals, getting healthy at Yeotown and exercising a la Chanel
…appreciating the hydrating power of intraceuticals.
I’m loving this dinky little intraceuticals travel pack, which I have been towing around for the past month. In the pic above, it is in tropical surroundings in Barbados, but it has also been to Scotland and Devon and does just as good a job whether the air is dry or humid, which is quite an achievement.
I had known about intraceuticals for years for its non-surgical face treatment which uses fine sprays of hyaluronic acid, mixed with pressurised oxygen to give the skin a really deep-level hydration. Celebs just love it, from Kim Kardashian to Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas; Madonna took a machine with her on her MDNA world tour in 2009-9, so that she could have a treatment before every performance and now has five machines).
But I hadn’t known about the skincare products that went with the treatment. It’s a three-step system, all based on the powers of hyaluronic acid (HA) which as I’m sure you know holds up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, so it helps the skin hang onto water and it’s particularly good thing when you’re The first product, the Daily Serum, has ‘low molecular weight’ HA – i.e., smaller molecules, so that they sink right in to the deeper layers of the skin. The second step, the Hydration Gel, is a medium-weight HA, to plump up the outer layers of the skin and the third is a Moisture Binding Cream to seal it all in and stop all that precious moisture escaping into the air. The pink one is a refreshing Rose Mist. And yes, this layering system works a treat and makes the drier skin on my cheeks feel well nourished without overloading the oilier skin on my nose and forehead. Result.

…getting super-healthy at Yeotown
I have to say, the idea of a detoxing in Devon in January really did not sound my cup of tea, but I had signed up for a few days away with Urban Decay (yes, the beauty-with-an-edge cosmetics company, which doesn’t sound a natural partner for a detox retreat) before it was revealed where we were going, so there was no wimping out.
Life at Yeotown is full-on, from early-morning yoga and three-hour daily hikes to exercise classes, meditation and massage along with small regular portions of super-healthy food.
I’ll blog about it separately as there’s so much to say but much to my surprise I loved everything about it – (and here’s a link to their site) and there was a special treat in the form of a facial done with new Urban Decay products. I can’t talk about those yet but here’s a shot of the new Prep-Prime-Set collection which is launching soon, and like Yeotown, is all about taking a bit of time for yourself to reset your skin (and your life) and make it that bit better than before.
…playing with my new Chanel exercise ball
This is just gorgeous. It arrived along with a sample of Chanel’s new Blue Serum which includes ingredients from the so-called ‘blue zones’ around the world which have unusually high populations of centenarians. So there are extracts of Sardinian olives and Costa Rican coffee which are great for the skin though if you want the full longevity effect you will need to follow the whole Blue Zone lifestyle including healthy eating, regular exercise, stress management and keeping up with your friends and family.
