Humans have been enhancing their lips with lipstick for thousands of years, going all the way back to Ancient Sumeria where both men and women would apply crushed gemstones to make their lips more eye-catching. Lipstick is, of course, a mainstay of modern makeup routines, but over the last twenty years or so there has been a sharp rise in the use of dermal fillers to boost volume in the lips, making them appear fuller and more luscious without the need for lipstick. The effect is instantaneous, pronounced, and involves very limited downtime, so the increased popularity is understandable.

You do have to be careful with lip fillers, though, as with dermal fillers in general. The regulation surrounding fillers is very limited and absolutely anyone can go on a two-day course, buy some filler off the internet, and set themselves up as a practitioner. This can and does lead to some of the disastrous results you often see reported in the press. The good news is that there are a lot of very good practitioners out there—you just have to know where to look. I’ve listed some of the top practitioners in Birmingham below, all of them backed up by the experience and accreditation that reassures you that your looks are in safe hands.

Sometimes called The City of a Thousand Trades, Birmingham has a diverse industry offering, which provides all manner of goods and services to the local public. Among them is the tweakments industry, which has been booming in recent years; so much so that Birmingham is now considered one of the top centres for aesthetics in the UK. The boom is indicative of the general popularisation of tweakments in major cities and the sheer number of clinics now operating in and around Birmingham is testament to their appeal. However, do be careful that you don’t just visit any old clinic. While some of the best practitioners in the UK work in Birmingham and the surrounding areas like Solihull and Harborne, the area is also home to plenty of third-rate clinics offering cut-price treatments. While these offers sound appealing at first blush, they’re often administered by inexperienced and poorly trained cowboys looking to make a fast buck. It’s anything but appealing when a tweakment goes wrong and you can often end up spending even more money getting it fixed by the sort of practitioner you should have gone to in the first place. So, go to a good one, like the ones below.
