Dr Rachna Murthy
Dr Rachna Murthy is a multi-award-winning Consultant Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon. She specialises in cosmetic injectables, laser resurfacing and lesion removal. She co-founded FaceRestoration, alongside Professor Jonathan Roos, to provide patients with quality specialist care. Internationally recognised with more than half a century of combined medical experience and 35 years of combined NHS clinical service, the duo has partnered to give a unique male and female perspective. Procedures are delivered with a dual assessment, low complication rates, maximum safety and complete confidentiality.
Since qualifying as a doctor in 1996, Dr Rachna has gone on to become an internationally recognised key opinion leader in the fields of aesthetics, periocular cancer and thyroid eye disease. She has led quaternary services at Cambridge University Hospitals for thyroid eye disease and oculoplastic care in the East of England.
Recently shortlisted as a finalist in the category of Consultant Surgeon of the Year at the Aesthetics Awards, Dr Rachna is an experienced surgical trainer, not just in the NHS and for the Royal College of Ophthalmologist, but also in the private sector. Her technical skills and her academic and safety work with dermal fillers have also led to her appointment as an Allergan Medical Institute faculty member.
As the lead periocular skin cancer clinician for Ipswich for the last decade, she has also helped pioneer innovative surgical approaches resulting in reduced patient attendance and cancer recurrence with improved cosmetic outcomes.
She is a full member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society, the European Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the International Associate member of the American Society of Oculoplastic Surgery. She sits on the council of the Royal Society of Medicine’s Ophthalmology section. Her publications have won international prizes and are widely quoted. Before becoming a consultant, she did her post-residency fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Craniofacial Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, and the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital Melbourne, Australia.
At FaceRestoration, Dr Rachna shares her expertise with thousands of patients. She is a patient advocate and is dedicated to providing patients with care and compassion. Together with Professor Jonathan Roos, they work as a two-consultant team to help patients determine the best course of action. They are surgical and aesthetic trainers who are qualified to look after complex diseases and provide key opinions for aesthetic complications.
Dr Rachna is qualified to perform both surgical and non-surgical procedures. Her specialist interests are in the medical and surgical treatment of thyroid eye disease, ocular surface disease, watery eye and eyelid malposition, as well as managing skin cancer around the eye, and reconstruction following tumour removal. Dr Rachna’s non-surgical procedures include injectables and laser resurfacing.
