Alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid or lactic acid (as an acid toner, an exfoliating cleanser, a mask or a serum) have the same effect as outlined above – the effect of improving the functioning of the other treatment products you use. Hydroxy acids (alpha, beta or poly) also hydrate the skin, which is beneficial for wrinkles, and glycolic acid in particular is able to raise the levels of collagen in the skin, which helps to protect against wrinkling.
