VOLYME is one of the dermal fillers in Galderma’s Restylane brand, a pioneer and leader in hyaluronic acid (HA) filler technology. VOLYME features Galderma’s trademarked Optimal Balance Technology (OBT), a process of cross-linking hyaluronic acid molecules to produce fillers that deliver exactly the degrees of firmness, elasticity, and longevity needed for specific facial filling needs.

VOLYME is a relatively soft and flexible filler used to restore lost volume in facial areas such as the cheeks and temples. VOLYME’s flexibility helps your face maintain its natural movements and looks while you smile and talk. At the same time, VOLYME is firm and structured enough to give the filled areas their desired shape and retain that shape over time.

Why We Recommend Restylane Volyme

One of the giveaways of age is the gradual loss of the natural fat padding in your cheeks, a loss that works with bone resorption to rob your face of its youthful softness and roundness. By using VOLYME, a practitioner can quickly replace that lost volume and restore your face’s beautiful curves. VOLYME is also great for subtly reshaping your temples, your chin, or your jawline while retaining a natural look and feel.

About Restylane Volyme

Why We Recommend VOLYME

‘One of the giveaways of age is the gradual loss of the natural fat padding in your cheeks, a loss that works with bone resorption to rob your face of its youthful softness and roundness. By using VOLYME, a practitioner can quickly replace that lost volume and restore your face’s beautiful curves. VOLYME is also great for subtly reshaping your temples, your chin, or your jawline while retaining a natural look and feel.’

Why might you be interested in VOLYME?

Here are the two main reason you might be interested in VOLYME treatment:

  • Restoring lost volume to your face. VOLYME gives practitioners a quick and effective means of restoring lost volume to your face while maintaining a natural look.
  • Enhancing your chin or jawline. Your practitioner can use VOLYME to enhance the shape of your chin or your jawline.

How does a VOLYME treatment work?

Before the treatment, you meet with the practitioner so they can examine your facial structure, learn your medical history and your aesthetic goals, and agree a treatment plan with you.

For the treatment, the practitioner cleanses your skin thoroughly, and then injects VOLYME into the treatment area or areas using either a fine needle or a cannula (a thin, flexible tube). After injecting the filler, the practitioner may massage the area to distribute and shape the filler as needed.

The practitioner may use VOLYME on its own to add fullness to your cheeks, but they may also use VOLYME in combination with other fillers. For example, the practitioner might use LYFT, a firmer filler also in the Restylane brand, to lift your cheeks and then use VOLYME to add fullness.

How long do the results last?

VOLYME lasts for up to 18 months.

Is treatment with VOLYME painful?

No. Treatment with VOLYME is not painful, but you may experience mild discomfort from the injections. Most formulations of VOLYME include lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, to alleviate any discomfort. Confirm with your practitioner that the VOLYME they will use includes lidocaine; if not, you can ask the practitioner to numb the treatment areas beforehand with another form of anaesthetic, such as a numbing cream. If you are concerned about the injections hurting, ask your practitioner to numb the treatment areas beforehand.

Where can VOLYME be used?

VOLYME is most frequently used to restore volume to the following areas of your face:

  • Cheeks and zygomatic area. Your cheeks tend to gradually lose volume as you age, and VOLYME can restore them to natural-looking fullness. You’ll also hear practitioners refer to the ‘zygomatic area’ of the face. This is the area of the face that contains the zygomatic bones, which is the medical term for the cheekbones – so the ‘zygomatic area’ is the cheek area.
  • VOLYME can restore lost volume to your temples, eliminating the hollow look they can develop.
  • Practitioners use VOLYME to either restore lost volume to your chin or to enhance it.
  • Practitioners use VOLUME to restore your jawline’s natural shape or to enhance it.

How long does VOLYME treatment take?

A treatment with VOLYME usually takes between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on which and how many facial areas you’re having treated.

In some cases, you may need a touch-up treatment a couple of weeks after the initial treatment to give you optimum results.

To maintain your treatment results in the long term, you may want to have top-up treatments. These treatments would typically use smaller amounts of VOLYME filler — just enough to restore any volume the treatment areas have lost. Consult your practitioner about such top-up treatments and when to have them.

How quickly can you see results from VOLYME treatment?

You will see an immediate effect from VOLYME treatment, because the contours of your face will change. As any swelling from the injections decreases and the filler settles in your face, you will see the results more clearly.

At what age can you get VOLYME treatment?

You can get VOLYME treatment from the age of 18 in the UK.

How much does a VOLYME treatment cost?

The cost of a VOLYME treatment varies depending on the amount of filler required and the geographical location in which you’re having the treatment. Typical prices start at £250 for a treatment that uses 1ml of VOLYME.

Will I have scars from VOLYME treatment?

No. VOLYME is a noninvasive treatment and causes no scars.

Are there side-effects from VOLYME treatment?

VOLYME treatment has minimal downtime and modest side effects. Most patients are able to resume their normal activity the same day, so if you have a lunchtime appointment, you could go back to work that afternoon.

You may experience some redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising in the area treated. These side effects will usually disappear within a week; if not, consult your practitioner for advice.

What is the aftercare advice following a VOLYME treatment?

After having VOLYME injections, be gentle with the treatment areas, and apply concealer as needed:

  • Give the treatment areas time to settle down rather than applying make-up to them immediately.
  • About 24 hours after the treatment, you can apply a light cover-up if needed.
  • If you have remaining redness, try a concealer with a slight green or yellow tone. If you have bruising, try a yellow-toned concealer.

Who makes VOLYME?

VOLYME is manufactured and marketed by Galderma, a pharmaceutical company with a worldwide presence and more that 6,000 employees. VOLYME is part of Galderma’s Restylane brand of hyaluronic acid fillers, which also includes Restylane LYFT, Restylane REFYNE, and Restylane KYSSE. Restylane specialises in HA fillers close in composition to your skin’s own HA and is a highly trusted brand, with more than 65 million treatments delivered worldwide.

Who are dermal fillers not suitable for?

Dermal fillers, such as VOLYME, are not suitable for the following people with the following conditions:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid having dermal fillers while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Younger than 18. Dermal fillers are generally not recommended if your body is still growing.
  • Active skin infections. Clear up any active skin infections, such as acne or cold sores, before having dermal fillers.
  • Autoimmune diseases. These diseases generally preclude the use of dermal fillers.
  • Using medication that affects bleeding. If you are taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin, or other medication that affects bleeding, discuss it with your practitioner.

You should also ask your practitioner about any other conditions that may make you unsuitable for treatment with VOLYME.
