WHY IS ULTRACLEAR™ EXCITING? 

UltraClear’s 3DMIRACL™ cold fiber laser technology is a first-of-its-kind mid-infrared fiber laser that uses a new specific wavelength –  2910nm – to operate at peak water absorption. That means that 95% of the energy emitted does what we want it to do – ablate skin tissue – while leaving little residue for unwanted thermal damage in the surrounding area. This minimises common risks associated with laser treatment, including post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (brown marks caused by increased pigment disposition) and post-inflammatory erythema (red marks caused by dilated blood vessels), making it safer for all skin of colour.

HOW EXACTLY DOES IT WORK? 

UltraClear™ has a dual-action effect on the skin, using short, concentrated beams of light to gently remove the outer layers of dull, damaged skin, while also depositing controlled thermal energy at the deeper dermis level to promote more intensive skin healing and regeneration.

It’s powered by patent-pending 3DIntelliPulse™ technology, which automatically blends four sub-pulses of ablative and coagulative laser and simultaneously delivers them with precision to the skin. Each cold ablative sub-pulse offers evenly-distributed skin resurfacing, with minimal thermal side effects, while the multiple thermal, coagulative sub-pulses stimulate elastin and hyaluronic acid production, while promoting impressive collagen remodelling, and producing a skin tightening effect. The balance of cold and thermal energy is also highly consistent, and adjustable, meaning it can provide effective results, without unnecessary thermal damage or too little thermal impact, which could increase the risk of bleeding.

WHY DOES SIZE MATTER? 

The laser’s small spot size and optimised spot overlap technology help deliver safer deep ablation, plus precise results, faster healing and less pain. UltraClear™ also operates at a speed of up to 5,000 Hz pulse repetition rate, a few thousand times higher than alternatives. That means it is not only faster, but delivers more precise, smaller injuries for maximum efficacy and safety.

WHAT TYPES OF ULTRACLEAR™ TREATMENT ARE THERE?

UltraClear™ uses one laser device but there are four modalities to personalise the treatment to your needs, lifestyle and skin type, ranging from a less invasive skin refresh to deeper rejuvenation.

Clear Mode: Offering speedy results focusing on improving the appearance of uneven texture, sun damage and blemishes, the treatment involves just cold fractional ablation of the very top layer of your skin (15% of the stratum corneum). It has minimal downtime and the lowest pain level.

Clear+ Mode: Focusing on fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, age spots and sun damage, this mode involves just cold fractional ablation, but of up to 80% of the epidermal (top) layer of the skin.

Ultra Mode: Using the device’s 3DIntelliPulse technology, the Ultra Mode provides deep rejuvenation in the mid-dermis (below the top layer of the skin where collagen and elastin are). This provides significant improvement for deep wrinkles, fine lines and scars, and promotes new collagen and elastin production.

UltraClear Mode: Combines modes 2 and 3 for maximum results, where you can achieve immediate and long-lasting smoothing, tightening and brightening results.

WHY IS ULTRACLEAR™, UNLIKE OTHER LASERS, SAFE FOR ASIAN AND BLACK SKIN?

Skin rejuvenation lasers work by heating the skin layers to promote healing and a youthful appearance. But, this can also have unwanted thermal-induced side effects, such as post-inflammation hyperpigmentation (PIH), especially in high-risk skin types III and above, which includes Asian and Black skin.

UltraClear™ on the other hand uses the coldest laser on the market and advanced precision energy control to reduce this thermal damage, making it safer for all skin tones, including sensitive skin.

AT WHAT AGE CAN YOU GET ULTRACLEAR™?

UltraClear can be used both preventively as a quick and comfortable treatment for younger patients seeking a skin maintenance programme. Or, as a rejuvenation tool for older individuals who are looking to reverse already visible signs of ageing with maximum results and minimal risks in one session.

HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT TAKE?

It depends on the mode you choose. On average, you can expect it to take between 30 – 45 minutes, but it can take as little as 15-20. That’s because it operates at a higher speed than other alternatives and its one of the only anti-ageing laser treatments that does not require numbing cream for some of its less invasive modes. That saves you at least an hour in prep time pre-treatment, making it a rapid and comfortable solution for anyone looking for preventive ways to reduce signs of ageing.

HOW QUICKLY CAN YOU SEE RESULTS AND ARE THEY LONG-LASTING?

You can expect to see results after just one session for all treatments. In fact, the light peel option offers noticeable improvements after just two to four days, and will keep your skin looking smooth and bright for several months.

The most intense treatment modes also offer quick results, and your skin will continue to improve in the following months, lasting for up to five years. Yearly refreshers are recommended to maximise your outcomes.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME LIKE? 

Overall its fairly minimal. If your practitioner uses the Clear Mode for a little-to-no-downtime peel, you may experience some mild redness and swelling for 24 hours, while a more intense UltraClear treatment for deep wrinkles or acne scars has an average downtime of three days. That’s still relatively impressive for laser treatments, as UltraClear’s small spot size results in faster healing and the fast closure of the ablative microchannels, minimising the likelihood of bleeding.

IS ULTRACLEAR™ PAINFUL?

It’s not painless, but due to its pain-relieving MIRACL™ technology, it’s closer to a 3 on the pain scale, while other methods tend to reach 6 out of 10 or greater. Uncomfortable is probably the best description, and, because the treatment is so fast, this discomfort is short-lived.

WHO IS ULTRACLEAR™ SUITABLE FOR?

Due to the steps taken to minimise thermal damage, UltraClear™ is safe to be used for all skin types. In particular, it is a good option for individuals with Black skin who often cannot use traditional lasers or otherwise have to use altered protocols that slow down their results.

The device is also very versatile, giving your practitioner the ability to change modes, beam sizes, coverage percentage, energy level and ablation depth, to tailored the treatment to your individual needs.
