Why might you be interested in LYFT?
As we get older, our faces gradually lose their shape and volume for several reasons:
- Our bodies produce less collagen, the protein that provides structure and scaffolding for the skin, and less elastin, the protein that helps keep the skin stretchy. As a result of these changes, our skin gradually starts to sag.
- The pads of subcutaneous fat in our faces tend to shrink or shift downward, making our cheeks hollow and our jowls more prominent.
- Our facial bones lose volume and recede, changing the dimensions of our faces. Bone loss is especially noticeable around the jawline, cheeks, and eye sockets.
A treatment with LYFT can quickly restore lost volume to your face, returning your face’s youthful lines without surgery. You can also use LYFT to enhance your features and give yourself a different look.
How does a LYFT treatment work?
Before the treatment, you meet with the practitioner so they can examine your facial structure, learn your medical history and your aesthetic goals, and agree a treatment plan.
For the treatment, the practitioner cleanses your skin thoroughly, and then injects LYFT into the treatment area or areas using either a fine needle or a cannula (a thin, flexible tube). After injecting the filler, the practitioner may massage the area to distribute the filler as needed.
How long do the results last?
LYFT has been shown to last for up to 12 months in the midface area. If you have a re-treatment, you can extend the effects up to at least 24 months.
Results for other areas of the body may vary somewhat.
The length of time that a dermal filler lasts varies depending on your metabolic rate and your activity level: if you have a fast metabolism, your body will break down the dermal filler more rapidly than if you have a slow metabolism. Similarly, a high activity level will cause your body to break down the dermal filler more quickly than a lower activity level.
Is treatment with LYFT painful?
LYFT treatment is not painful, but you may feel some mild discomfort. Most formulations of LYFT include lidocaine, a local anaesthetic to alleviate any pain. Check with your practitioner beforehand that the formulation they will use includes lidocaine; if not, you can request another form of anaesthetic, such as a separate numbing cream. If you are concerned about discomfort from the injections, discuss preparatory pain relief with your practitioner.
Where can LYFT be used?
LYFT is effective in the face and in other parts of the body. LYFT has been approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the following three purposes:
How long does LYFT treatment take?
A treatment with LYFT usually takes between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on which areas and how many areas you are having treated.
In some cases, you may need a touch-up treatment about a fortnight after the initial treatment to give you optimum results.
To maintain your treatment results in the long term, you may want to have top-up treatments. These treatments would typically use smaller amounts of LYFT filler — just enough to restore any volume the treatment areas have lost. Consult your practitioner about such top-up treatments and when to have them.
How quickly can you see results?
You will see initial results the same day as you have LYFT injections. As any swelling from the injections decreases and the filler settles in your face, you will see the results more clearly.
At what age can you get LYFT treatment?
You can get LYFT treatment from the age of 18 in the UK.
How much does a LYFT treatment cost?
The cost of a LYFT treatment varies depending on the amount of filler required and the geographical location in which you’re having the treatment. Typical prices start at £250 for a treatment that uses 1ml of LYFT.
Will I have scars from LYFT treatment?
No. LYFT is a noninvasive treatment and causes no scars.
Are there side effects from LYFT treatment?
LYFT treatment has minimal downtime. Typically, patients can resume their normal activity the same day, so you could go back to work after a lunchtime appointment.
You may experience some redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising in the area treated. These side effects will usually disappear within a week; if not, consult your practitioner for advice.
What is the aftercare advice following a LYFT treatment?
After your LYFT treatment, be gentle with the treatment areas. After the procedure, give the treatment areas time to settle down rather than applying make-up to them immediately. About 24 hours after the treatment, you can apply a light cover-up if needed. If you have remaining redness, try a concealer with a slight green or yellow tone. If you have bruising, try a yellow-toned concealer.
Who makes LYFT?
LYFT is manufactured and marketed by Galderma, a pharmaceutical company with a worldwide presence and more that 6,000 employees. LYFT is part of Galderma’s Restylane brand of hyaluronic acid fillers.
Who are dermal fillers not suitable for?
Dermal fillers, such as LYFT, are not suitable for the following people with the following conditions:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid having dermal fillers while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Younger than 18. Dermal fillers are generally not recommended if your body is still growing.
- Active skin infections. You should clear up any active skin infections, such as acne or cold sores, before having dermal fillers.
- Autoimmune diseases. These diseases generally preclude the use of dermal fillers.
- Taking medication that affects bleeding. If you are taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin, or other medication that affects bleeding, discuss it with your practitioner.
You should also ask your practitioner about any other conditions that may make you unsuitable for treatment with LYFT.
