EVE OF ST AGNES
What is it and what’s the USP? It’s a natural and organic British skincare company founded by Emma Heywood. Emma suffered from dry skin and eczema from an early age and after trying unsuccessfully to find a skincare range to help decided to create her own. She discovered that a large amount of the ingredients used in cosmetics were synthetic and known for causing allergic reactions. Emma aims to make her products as natural as possible and to give a host of benefits including a feeling of wellbeing. Emma is committed to “sourcing the highest performing, natural, ethically sourced ingredients while maintaining ecologically friendly business practices.”
Hero product? The award winning Nourishing Cleansing Cream (£14, eveofstagnes.com), a soap and detergent free hot cloth cleanser, scented with Sweet Orange Essential Oil.
Why the name? It comes from John Keats Poem The Eve of St Agnes that was written in 1918. Keats based his poem on the superstitions surrounding certain rites that were performed on the Eve of St Agnes (20th January) by young maidens, who by performing these rituals were promised a glimpse of their future husband in their dreams. St Agnes is the Patron Saint of purity and virginity which is the inspiration behind the natural products.
How new is it? It launched in 2012
